More difficult starts... so anticipate !

The days are getting shorter, and temperatures are dropping. Our old cars don't appreciate this very much, especially when it comes to their batteries. These tend to perform a bit less efficiently in the cold. Therefore, if your old car is a bit reluctant to start, it could end up draining the battery.

However, you have several solutions. The first: drive regularly. This will allow the battery to recharge, even if the trip is short. And besides, a ride in a classic car is not something to pass up. If that's not possible, start the car regularly. Although the battery recharge will be less effective, you'll at least allow the mechanical components to be regularly lubricated and keep the fuel "close" to the engine, reducing the time needed to start up and thus avoiding overstraining the battery.

Alternative solutions exist with battery chargers and check valves to be installed on your supply circuits.

Watch out for your tires !

This is advice that should be given in every season. Even if your car is not being driven and the tires are not being worn out, they tend to age. As a result, they become less effective and lose their flexibility.

And this will be a real problem in the fall. The rain is becoming more and more frequent and dries less and less, reducing tire grip. So if they are not in good condition, watch out for surprises! Check their age regularly; it is always indicated by a dedicated marking.

Also be careful where you put them. Fallen leaves are often treacherous. Certainly, they are pretty, but once dozens of cars have crushed them, the resulting mush is particularly slippery.

See well... and be seen !

With shorter days, you have an increasing chance of driving at night. And this is a real issue for vintage vehicles, especially if they are 6V.

You will need to be able to see where you are going, that is the first thing, but do not forget that you also need to be seen! Considering that older vehicles often drive slower than modern ones and brake earlier, think about the surprise of drivers coming up behind you if they haven't seen you.

Washing against humidity !

No, we're not making fun of you. In autumn, between the leaves, the mud from the beet fields, and the various rains, you tend to pick up quite a bit of mud while driving. The problem is that this mud can take some time to dry. As a result, you're exposing an old car to moisture... and we all know that these old metal sheets don't really need any help to rust !

So instead of letting it dry and risking damage, give it a good wash by cleaning your car and getting rid of all that !

We think we've covered everything. But don't hesitate, if you have your own tips, everyone is interested !
