Alépoc, Your Parts for Citroën ID
The Citroën ID has always been in the shadow of the Citroën DS, and that's normal as it was designed for that. When the queen of the road was introduced in 1955, it occupied the same segment as the Traction, even aiming a bit higher towards the premium market. To extend its commercial reach, the ID was added starting in 1957.
At Alépoc, you can find all your parts for classic Citroën in the areas of carburation, filtration, engine gaskets, mechanical parts.
The Citroën DS vs the Citroën ID
The two cars look very similar. In fact, the ID is a more affordable and stripped-down version of the Citroën DS. Technically, gear shifting is done in a more "normal" way, with a clutch, the brakes are not assisted, and the engine is equipped with a single carburetor. The presentation is also different, with three colors in the catalog, many chromes replaced by painted parts, and the interior is less well equipped.
To differentiate the ID from the DS, look at the hubcaps, which do not cover the entire wheel on the former, and the Citroën emblem on the trunk, which is silver and not gold.
The Citroën ID will sell well and will, from afar, follow the evolutions of its big sister. The brakes received assistance in 1962 and the front changed in 1963. The three-bearing engine was replaced by the 5-bearing engine in 1967, while the following model year saw the appearance of the new front with faired headlights.
In 1970, the Citroën ID 19 and ID 20 will disappear from the catalog to make way for the DSpécial and DSuper, respectively. They will continue their career until 1975 and their replacement by the new Citroën CX.
Often mistaken for the DS at vintage car rallies, the fact that it is lower in range has not preserved it as much from destruction. However, there are still very beautiful Citroën ID in the classic car world. Above all, it has maintained its price differential with its big sister!
It is therefore a car to preserve, and you will find parts here to help you with that.
