Popular or exclusive, the Peugeot convertible
The beautiful days are returning, we will be able to take out the caps, lower the convertible tops, and go for a ride in the convertible. Among the French brands that we love so much in the team ofAlepoc, it must be said that Peugeot has demonstrated a certain consistency in the production of its convertibles. We present you with an overview of these models.
The Peugeot 203 Dillmann, the rarity

There is a Peugeot the kind that has been talked about recently. It's Dillmann... even though she is truly unique. Because this Peugeot In addition to letting you drive with the wind in your hair, the 203 has the advantage of being a competition car. Handcrafted, unique, and high-performing, it truly stands apart... but it is so beautiful !
It was put up for sale a few weeks ago by Carprecium, the information is there.
More "common", the Peugeot 203 Discoveries and Convertible
Afterwards, apart from this unique 203, you will always be able to enjoy driving in the open air behind the wheel of such a car, and we're not just talking about the sunroof.

First, there is the convertible sedan, which retains its 4 doors and only replaces the roof with a canvas. It was produced in 11,504 units.
More elegant, we also find a real Peugeot 203 Cabriolet. Introduced in the lineup in 1951, it is truly different from the convertible. It was only in the catalog for 5 short years, and 2,624 cars were produced.
The Peugeot Eclipse, the two-in-one
Pre-war, Peugeot also produced convertibles and cabriolets. But one will particularly note a family of cars: the Eclipses.
The story of these cars begins when Darl'Mat, a Parisian agent of Peugeot, introduces Georges Paulin to the coachbuilder Pourtout. Although Paulin is a dentist, he is ingenious and invented an electrically retractable roof system! Installed on a Hotchkiss, it will later be fitted onto Peugeot 401 of which production has started.

Peugeot will eventually buy the patent and directly produce the Peugeot Eclipse. This system will be found on the 601 and the 402.
The Peugeot 404 and 504 Cabriolet: Italian-style class

The Peugeot 403 had been declined as a convertible, the Peugeot 404 it will be too, and with the coupe as a bonus! As with the sedan, the Italian Pininfarina was enlisted for the design. Except this time, these sleek versions are also produced in Turin. The Peugeot The 404 Cabriolet is also the model that introduces fuel injection to the range, before it becomes widespread. Produced from 1962, it made way in 1969.

Indeed, that year, the releases included the Peugeot 504 Coupe and therefore Convertible. It is once again Pininfarina who is responsible for the design and assembly. They quickly started using 2-liter engines to make them even more powerful. But especially in 1974, they were equipped with the new PRV V6. The performance improved significantly... but they sold better with the 2-liter engine. Thus, only 977 Peugeot 504 V6 Cabriolets were produced. With a third series launched in 1980, the 504 Cabriolet held out until 1983 and bowed out, without an immediate successor, after 8,188 cars were produced.
The small ones: the 204 and 304

Apart from pre-war cars, the small convertibles from Sochaux are the 204 and the 304.
The 204 is the first to appear. The sedan debuted in the spring of 1965. The coupe and convertible versions arrived at the Paris Motor Show in 1966 with a shortened chassis but still the same all-alloy 53 hp engine. Lowered, with an additional tachometer, they play the sport card !

Their career will be short since the Peugeot 304 appeared in 1969. The following spring, its coupe and convertible versions replaced the 204s. However... they are the same cars! Only the front end and the interior were changed, the rest is identical! The sporty angle was played up even more by offering S versions with a 74.5 hp engine. The Peugeot The 304 Cabriolet remained in production until July 1975.
If that doesn't make you want to take a ride in a convertible Peugeot… we don't understand !
